MUSTANG FUN RUN!
FRIDAY, OCTOBER 7, 2022 8:30-12:30 pm

Get your running shoes ready, the Mustang Fun Run is on its way! This year, the event will be held on Friday, October 7th from 8:30-12:30 pm. In order to allow social distancing between cohorts, two classes will be running at a time. We would love for parents to participate in our fun run day to pass out water, cheer/help the kids and pass out Otter Pops at the end of the run. To sign up for a volunteer shift, please go to:

The annual MME Fun Run will occur this Friday, October 7th! This free and fun event is where students run outdoors to raise money for our school. There will be music, balloons, bubbles, and more. All week long we will be getting in the spirit with daily spirit week themes.

Your donations will help pay for:

P.E. Equipment
Field Trips
Enhanced art programs such as Balie Folklorico
Bike/Walk to School Program
and much more!

Pledges can be made here at the link here or by check at the front office (make checks payable to MME PTA)

Everything you need to know about the Mustang Run, we hope 🙂

First some frequently asked questions:

Can I attend the Mustang Run even if I don’t volunteer?
No. We have been told that it is against the law to loiter nearby a school when it is in session. While the school is making use of the Montgomery Soccer Field, which we have reserved, it is considered an extension of the school so loitering around the field is also prohibited.

We do have volunteer jobs on our sign-up sheets that include cheering for the kids. If you can’t stay for the whole time just note it on the sheet. The district does not require parents to be vaccinated but you do need to show proof of a negative COVID-19 test within 24 hours of volunteering. When you arrive that morning, you need to check in with the office before heading out to the field.

Why can’t I find my child on the fundraising website?
If a student has not returned the orange permission slip (attached below), if their teacher has not turned in the permission slip, or if the family has opted out of using the fundraising site, then the child’s name will not show up. You are still able to make general donations to the school on the website.

Do I have to pay money for my child to participate?
No, the Mustang Run is a free school event. The only thing families need to do is send their kids to school with shoes and clothes that are comfortable to run around in.

If I opt out of 99 Pledges am I opting out of participating in the Mustang Run?
No, 99 Pledges is a fundraising platform that is optional and doesn’t affect participation eligibility or prizes.

What if I checked the wrong box on the permission slip?
You can fill out a new one or just email your teacher and let them know.

What is attached?

Mustang Run Permission Slip
This document originally came home on orange paper. The primary function of it is to opt in or out of having your student’s name on MME’s fundraiser page on 99 Pledges. Its secondary function is to help students earn some glow-in-the-dark bracelets. Lastly, if there is a concern with your student running laps in the race you can opt them out of it.

2022 Mustang Run Spirit Week
This colorful document lets you know what the themes for next week’s spirit week are. It also explains that the three classes with the highest percentage of participation will win Kona Ice. For now, just remember that Monday is sports day!

Donation Instructions
This document has step by step instructions on how to donate in person or online. If we did not receive a permission slip to allow a student’s name to be added to 99 Pledges, donors can still submit a general donation.

Mustang Run Flyer
This document was originally sent home on green paper. It explains what the money is raised for, how fun the event will be and contains the QR code that links to the fundraising website which is: https://app.99pledges.com/fund/MMEDavis

Calendario de Carreras
This document lets families and prospective volunteers know when their child’s class will run. This is especially helpful if you want to sign-up to volunteer. We have a wide range of jobs from cheering on the kids, filling water bottles, blowing bubbles, and more. You can sign up online or on the sign-up sheet in the office.

DJUSD is requiring all volunteers to either fill out a Volunteer Vaccination Form or show proof of a negative home antigen test taken 24 hours prior to a volunteer shift. If you would like to utilize an at home test to fulfill the requirement, please contact the MME office. If you filled out a Volunteer Vaccination Form last year and were cleared to volunteer, you DO NOT need to resubmit the form again this year. For more information, please visit DJUSD’s volunteer guidelines webpage.
